Weekly Review
Here are the most important news from the world of poker for today. Have a nice read!

1. Over the past weekend some new names were added to the list of WSOP champions. Especially noteworthy are the victories of the American investor and poker player – Peter Vilandos in Event 50, the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($ 952.694) and his countrywoman - Vanessa Selbst, who won the $ 2,500 buy-in Six-handed Ten-Game mix tournament, defeating a tough lineup of 421 players and getting her second WSOP bracelet and $ 244.259 in prize money. Another female to win a gold bracelet on Sunday was the 29-year-old Vietnamese-born professional poker player - Yen Dang, who won the $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Holdem tournament, otherwise known as the 2012 “Ladies Poker Championship”. For her efforts Dang was presented with her first WSOP gold bracelet and the handsome sum of $ 170,587 in prize money.
2. Last night 48 players sat down for the biggest poker game in history, the $1 million buy-in One Drop tournament. In the next few days the billionaires from around the world, two businessmen from Moscow, the film producers, the owners of casinos and the professional poker sharks will be competing for the record grand prize of $ 18,346,773 and the WSOP platinum bracelet! Do not miss this fantastic event and its live coverage at the official WSOP webpage. Meanwhile, there is a rumor floating around that Guy Laliberté is going to move all in blind the first hand, so when the first hand is dealt, we will be watching him intently.
3. Last week Delaware Gov. Jack Markell signed a bill authorizing online poker in the state. The move came one day after the state Senate approved it by a vote of 14-to-6. Thus, Delaware became the second US state (after Nevada) to legalize online gambling. It’s expected that Delaware residents could start playing roulette, poker and slots for real money online as soon as January 2013. Under the Delaware plan, land based casinos will get big breaks on licensing fees (as much as $7 million) while the state collects the revenue from the online casinos. The state lottery commission will be running the online casinos and using the revenue to offset the lost licensing fees. The bill also authorizes Delaware authorities to enter into gaming compacts with other states and create a multistate platform. Already, West Virginia has shown interest in this type of partnership.
4. Last week one of Europe’s largest online payment providers, Skrill (Moneybookers), announced that agreement has been reached for the 100% acquisition of paysafecard.com Wertkarten AG, an Austrian provider of prepaid vouchers that enable consumers to shop online. This strategic acquisition will transform Skrill’s offering for both merchants and end-users by combining its industry-leading digital wallet service with prepaid solutions available in 31 countries. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals being obtained, is the biggest in Skrill’s history to date.
5. Recently became known the new details of the online poker festival - MicroMillions II which will be running July 12 through July 22 and will include 100 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $0.11 to $22. The series will end with a $22 MicroMillions Main Event with a $1 million prize pool on Sunday, July 22. The best players of the series will be awarded some pretty big prizes. At the top is a full prize package to the 2013 PCA main event, a value of at least $13,000. 2nd-10th place finishers will get 2012 WCOOP $1,050 ticket and 11th-50th place finishers will earn 2012 WCOOP $215 ticket. Back in March, Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki tore through the tournaments and finished up with the MicroMillions I Player of the Series win. Do not miss your chance to join Horecki in the Bahamas in January 2013.
