Victor Blom Became Unemployed
One of the major news of the recent days is that Swedish cash game player Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom is no longer listed as a sponsored pro for PokerStars, the largest online site in the world. Thus, after one and a half year of successful cooperation the Swede has again become a free agent.
Earlier this year, Blom won back-to-back titles in one of the site’s marque tournament series. In January, he won $1.25 million in a high-roller event. Blom, 21, also made his debut at the World Series of Poker this summer and cashed in two events. He finished 14th in the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship.
However, at the nosebleed stakes Blom was not as good as before. In 2012 his results had deteriorated - before the end of the contract with PokerStars he was down about $500,000. Perhaps, this factor also influenced PokerStars authorities. Though, evil tongues say that contract with PokerStars forbade “Isildur1” to play on the $ 200/$ 400. One way or another, but now nothing can prevent him from playing on the highest limits.
Commenting on his departure, Blom said: "I’ve enjoyed my time as a Team Pro and I wish everyone at PokerStars the best. Now I just want to concentrate on playing poker."
Despite some speculation within the poker community, there has been no indication that Blom will be a sponsored pro for Full Tilt once it relaunches this fall.
