Venice Carnival did not Help WPT

08/02/2012

Unfortunately, the organizers of WPT Venice could not fulfill their promises of overcrowding Casinò de Venezia Ca’ Vendramin - the world's oldest operating casino. Only 155 poker enthusiasts did not feel scared of Italian winter and dared to take part at WPT Venice Main Event. After two days of play just 27 remain in the game. The majority of those players are relatively unknown, but there are a few familiar faces left in the field.

First, our chip leader - Marcel Bjerkmann. The Norwegian pro leads the field heading into Day 3 with 436,300 chips. We won’t be surprised, if you never heard of him, as Marcel is more familiar in online. His online career playing as "p3rc4" is much more impressive. In 2011, he won both the Sunday Million AND a WCOOP bracelet. Something prompts that it was not just pure luck.

The two best-known players who will enter Day 3 with chips are James Akenhead and Kara Scott. Akenhead sits comfortably in 4th place with 336,000 chips. Scott isn't quite as happy with her 60,100 chips, but she can still hope for a good run at the €229,800 first prize with a bit of luck.
