Total dominance of Faraz Jaka
Yesterday we wrote how Alex Repik shone at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Unfortunately, as it often happens, the second day radically changed the whole situation. The new powerful chip leader is Faraz Jaka, collecting nearly twice as many chips as the closest pursuer.
Meanwhile, the field of the main event reduced even further - only 183 participants will continue to fight the next day. But the second day will be remembered for a long time, because such rapid rises can be observed infrequently. At the start of the day, Jaka had 129,500 chips. By the end of the night, he was sitting on 902,500, the runaway chip leader and Day 2 hero.
Actually Jaka is no stranger to anyone here. The one-time World Poker Tour Player of the Year has a multi-million-dollar live winnings record, a winning history at the PCA, and an ability to confound the strongest of opponents with unconventional play.
Perhaps, the only one in the room who was not so familiar with Jaka was Chino Reem. When the last sat next to the chip leader, Faraz had 700,000 chips. After a while these become 1 million, most of which was kindly "presented" to him by Reem. In one of the key hands of the second day Chino called a huge bet on the river from Jaka (the board K ♠ J ♠ 6 ♦ 4 ♦ A ♦). Yucca opened A ♥ K ♣ and took a big pot. Soon Faraz eliminated Reem, as his A ♣ 9 ♣ could not beat A ♥ J ♥ of Faraz in all-in.
Though the field was reduced several times, there is still a decent number of pretenders aiming at $2 million first place. For example: Erik Cajelais (528.500), Alex Kuzmin (425.500), an online poker celebrity Phil "takechip" D'Auteuil (412,500), PokerStars Pros Arnaud Mattern (340.500) and Luca Pagano (280.000).
In addition to these players there are plenty celebrities whose stacks are not so great: the former PCA champion Harrison Gimbel (259.500), Marcel Beckmann (250,000), the defending PCA champion Galen Hall (192.500), a member of the November Nine - Phil Collins (190.000), Adam "Roothlus" Levy (175.000) and David "Raptor" Benefield (165.500).
Of course, big departures could not be escaped, as Kevin McPhee, Lex Veldhaus, Russell Carson, Vanessa Selbst, Chino Reem, Bertrand Grospellier, Dario Minieri, Michael Mizraki and many other distinguished participants hit the rail.
So, the very first prizes are not far way (160 participants will come away with min cash). If Faraz Jaka will consolidate its leadership, his $ 4.7 million career winnings can increase significantly.
Top 10 is as follows:
1. Faraz Jaka - 902.500
2. Christian Folesku - 555.500
3. Eric Kaelais - 528.000
4. Sokkor Drinan - 436.000
5. Alexander Kuzmin - 425.500
6. Jens Patsner - 423.000
7. Phil D'Ateyl - 413.500
8. Ruben Visser - 372.000
9. Robin van Gils - 360.500
10. Brian England - 354.000
