'Gamble or Sport?' - Sahil

15/11/2011

Mood: Tilted :/

Everyone here knows how does it feel when the trap works and u win a huge pot. Only 1 advice to every1 playing on PGF, never trap with AA...your opponent will hit the turn and river 9 of 10 times. I lost all my profit twice trapping wid AA...

Yesterday an idiot calls an all in raise on turn for E10 with around E14 in the pot...get 1.4:1 on the call with his 10 high flush draw and hits his flush on the river. And today it was runner runner Q K on turn and river for KQ after hitting his K on the flop.

They say it all boils down to making good decisions in the long run. I ask them what if there are players on the table making sick decisions and sucking out on huge pots.

My opinion: Its a sport only if every1 on the table plays it like a sport.

P.S: I guess my first and the last blog...as I have been making losses everyday (courtesy AA).

:)

At the micro stakes, I wouldn't suggest trapping with any hand except the absolute nuts that cannot get drawn out on. Reason is most players are recreational or weak players and are not going to analyse anything about the hand and will end up calling a wide range of draws and marginal hands. Value, pot odds, implied odds, etc are also unknown concepts to them. Additionally, they don't count bets in terms of BBs, and would call "as it's only 10 bucks". For good play to work, you need a good opponent, which is uncommon at micro levels.

I completely agree with you, but that is whet i mentioned. Its on us how we(players at the table) play. If i decide to chase all my flush draws irrespective of the pot odds i am getting, its gambling. Isn't it?

Definitely it's a sport but every sport has its own risks. Only the Dealer knows what cards are being given to whom but it depends on 'US', how we play.
