  1. 50K Main Event DAY 1B - Level 8 to Level 10

CHIP COUNTS FOR DAY 1B

1.55am Bag Up Time

Very little action has happened in the last couple of hands as the 27 players remaining in the Day 1B field seem content to coast their way to Day 2. Play has now wrapped up for the night and means we will have a total field of 48 players returning to Casino Royale at 4pm tomorrow to once again fight their way to an APT title.

As usual, stay tuned for the chip counts and the full account of the day’s action to be posted soon. For now, it’s goodnight and see you tomorrow!

Olli Virkkunen

1.45am Easy One for Olli

In early position, Olli Virkkunen from Finland makes a small raise of 1600 and action is folded around to the cutoff who three-bets to 4000. After a short deliberation, Virkunnen makes the call. The flop is checked and so is the turn of . With the river card , the Finn makes a bet of 3000 to take down the pot as his opponent mucks immediately.

1.30am Byraju Strikes Again

In two hands, Rahul Byraju has left an opponent with nothing in his stack except regrets. In the first hand, Byraju is in the big blind and called the UTG’s raise to 1800 preflop, along with our victim in the cutoff. They go three-handed to a flop of and the UTG c-bets 3000. The cutoff raises this to 6000 and Byraju flats and the UTG also calls.

On the turn Byraju opts to lead out for 5000. It’s a confusing move that has his opponents bamboozled and they frustratingly fold. Either that or they were both drawing to a flush and, with any pair now making a full house, to do so would be fruitless. Byraju obliges their curiosities and turns over to show he did indeed have half the goods.

In the very next hand, our victim raises to 1700 from the hijack and again it’s Byraju in the small blind and the big blind who meet him as the same three players go to a flop of . Byraju donk bets 4000, prompting the big blind to fold before the hijack decides to ship. Byraju obviously has his opponent’s number because he didn’t even ask for the count. With cards on their backs, Byraju’s pair of eights is way in front of his opponent’s tilting bluff attempt holding .

The turn and river give Byraju the pot and we’ve lost another player from the Main Event.

01.00am Final Level of the day (Level 10) : Blinds 400/800 Ante 100

Rahul Byraju

12.55am Byraju Takes on Chip Leader Bindra

With one limper, Rahul Byraju raises to 1775 on the button and gets a call from the current chip leader, Niharika Bindra. The flop is and, after a check, Byraju makes a c-bet of 2000, which Bindra flats.

The turn delivers another queen and Byraju bets 5000 more. Bindra pauses momentarily before putting in five yellow chips for a call. On the river of , Bindra leads out for 9200. Undeterred by the show of force from the chip leader, Byraju quickly raises the bet to 20,000. After tanking for a considerable amount of time, Bindra finally mucks her hand after giving a decent chunk of her stack to Byraju.

12.50am Goindi’s Ladies Let Him Down

The boisterous Ravi Goel has calmed down a little since his table talk shenanigans earlier this evening but he perked up again as he dispatched of Abhishek Goindi in this hand. After a cutoff raise to 1550, Goel shoves from the small blind only to see Goindi follow from the big blind. The cutoff man steps out of the way and, when cards are shown, Goindi’s are in front of Goel’s .

But a flop of is far from safe for Goindi as it gives his opponent a flush draw to go with his ace outs. To make matters worse, Goel does indeed pair his ace on the turn and then makes his flush on the river just to rub salt into Goindi’s wounds.

“That’s how you do it,” bellows Goel but then offers a quiet apology to Goindi for the bad beat.

Kishore Marimganti

12.40am Big Chick Works for Marimganti

Kishore Marimganti has been plugging along today with nothing too spectacular happening that we saw. This hand was also not spectacular but got him well up above the average 31,000 chip stack. With Marimganti got all his money in with a shorter stack holding .

The board ran out to give Marimganti trip queens and send his stack up to 39,000.

12.30am Jhunjhunwala’s Winning Formula

As the action was folded around, the button limps in for 600 chips before Rishabh Jhunjhunwala slowly picked up a few more chips and made it to 1300 more. The button calls and the flop is .

As Jhunjhunwala pauses to analyse his c-bet amount, his opponent looks at him and mucks before he could even put a single chip in the pot. “I’ll fold now” says his opponent and everyone on the table, including Jhunjhunwala, are quite amused. If only winning pots were that simple, eh Rishabh?

12.10am Level 9: Blinds 300/600 Ante 75

12.00am Players are now on a 10-minute Break

Niharika Bindra

11.35pm Bindra Shows the Lads How it’s Done

The bigger stacks in the room have been coasting along at around the same size so there has been no clear chip leader for a while. However, that all changed in the last hand and it’s none other than the only female left in the field (there were only two to begin with)… Niharika Bindra.

She is actually sitting next to her husband, Pranav Bagai, on the table and had called his cutoff raise on the button before the big blind of Rakesh Sharma decided to squeeze the couple with a re-raise to 4300. Bagai steps out of the way to let the missus take care of business and she steps up with a call.

On the flop of Sharma shuts down with a check and Bindra follows with the same behind. The turn arrives and when action is again passed to Bindra she bets strong for 7000, only to see her opponent immediately move all in over the top. She doesn’t falter, however, making the call to put Sharma at risk of elimination.

With cards on their backs, Sharma’s is out-kicking Bindra’s but she does have a flush draw added to her outs. When the river lands a the table gives a collective “ahhhh” as Bindra indeed hits her flush to rail Sharma and move convincingly into the chip lead on almost 75,000 in chips.

11.20pm Ogi Powers On

After his recent double up, Hiyashi Ogi raises to 1600 from the late position and gets a call from three opponents. The flop of  is checked to Ogi. He makes a c-bet of 4350 and gets one caller from the cutoff position.

The turn is the  and the three kings now out there get checked around. After the river of , Ogi announces all-in. His opponent tanks for a while before mucking his hand. Ogi now sits comfortably with a stack over 60,000.
