Foxwoods Casino has always caused mixed feelings in the American players. On the one hand, it is been loved for the giant WPT events it has hosted. On the other, is not so popular as it’s completely isolated from anything even remotely civilized, basically sitting in the middle of a swamp in the southeastern corner of Connecticut.

According to the latest New York Times Magazine nowadays Foxwoods goes through tough times, as it is facing massive debt, to the tune of $2.3 billion. By the way, Foxwoods’ enormous debt matches its enormous size. It’s the biggest casino in the Western Hemisphere.

Here are a few interesting facts from the NY Times article.

· Foxwoods has been open every minute of every day since February 15, 1992.
· It measures 6.7 million square feet, more than the pentagon.
· Attendance exceeds 40,000 on weekend days.
