JOURNEY IN THE MICRO-MILLIONS

14/07/2012

My Journey in the Pokerstars Micro-Millions started today. After having quick lunch, I registered for Event no.16 $2.20 No Limit Hold'em. Even though an hour had passed (and it was in late registration stage), the blinds weren't high.

I was dealt pocket Aces on the very first hand and fortunately for me, a player in early position open shoved and it was an easy call to double up in first hand.

After that hand, my hands were pretty dead, I wasn’t very happy with my table as there were too many open shoves with marginal hands like 77/88/10-10.

I tried to steal pot as much as i could but with a crazy table it was a bit difficult. After sometime i was dealt with Ace-King and a player went all-in before me and of course, it was an easy call for me.

My opponent had Q-7 Diamonds. the flop was  4-3-10 (2 diamonds), I prayed for black cards. The turn was a black King, giving me huge lead. the King of diamonds of the river sealed the deal for me.

I was pretty upset with the elimination.

Next I jumped into Event No.17 $5.50 No Limit Draw.

I played tight for the first hour and had a chip stack of more-than-average at the end of registration period (after 2 hours). At the point i was shifted to a new table and sadly all my opponents were big stacked. After playing tight for another hour, I open shoved with an 1 card to a Ace high flush draw (hearts)  and got called by the Big blind. I drew one card and so did my opponent. I drew a black Queen while my opponent paired a 4 to give him the winning hand. I was out at 411th place which was very near the money. I was’nt very disappointed as I played my best during the whole tournament.

I also played event no. 18 $3.39 No-limit Hold’em (Turbo).

In one of the early hands i was dealt 77 in middle position and limped in. I made quads on the flop itself. The player before me bet and i flat, seeing no need to do anything and wanting as many callers as possible. Everyone else folded and on the turn, he made a bigger bet and i just called. On the river, he goes all-in and it must have been the easiest call of my life.

A few hands after that, I opened the pot with QQ and was raised by a loose aggressive player on the hi-jack. I made a 4-bet and he quickly shoved the rest of his chips. I made the call and found my queens were in bad shape against his Kings. With nothing to help me on the community cards, i was out of the tournament in early stages.

My first day in the Micro millions series was not what i would have loved, I guess I’ll have to work hard on my game for tomorrow’s tournaments.
