Haxton and Blom lead at PSA
Yesterday was marked with an event that we all waited for so long – the Ninth PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. In the near one and a half weeks 41 interesting events will be waiting for us, while yesterday “poker madness” on a "Paradise Island" began with a Super High Roller tourney for $100,000.
As you can imagine, not everyone can afford to play such an event, and therefore, the field promised to be relevantly small and consistent only of the elite players. And such it was. 30 professionals have managed to pay an expensive buy-in, with two of them decided to re-buy, one being relative novice Bill Perkins. The other was former World Champion Jonathan Duhamel, who demonstrated great financial instinct by finishing the day at forth place. Thus, the prize pool reached $ 3.1 million, of which $ 1.24 million was saved for the winner.
The best performance showed high rolling regulars: Isaac Haxton and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. During the day the vice-champion of the PCA Main Event 2007 - Haxton was able to turn his starting stack of 250.000 into 1.2 million in chips - the best result among all 30 super-high rollers. The second place and 870.000 chips belong to Team PokerStars Pro - Viktor Blom. The 3rd stake is at the hands of Erik Seidel (753.000), who seemed to win every high-roller event last year, followed by Jonathan Duhamel (729.000) and Humberto Brenes (609.000).
Currently 18 professionals are still in the game. You definitely know all of them, so we just mention a few: Mike McDonald, Jason Mercier, Galen Hall, Daniel Negreanu, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Tom Marchese, Bertrand Grospellier and some others. Today we will get to know the names of all the finalists of such a prestigious tournament and will immediately inform you. So, stay tuned!
