9.00pm Randeria’s Kings Hurtle Him Out on Bubble

After entering today with just a 9600 stack and clawing his way back into the tournament, Astad Randeria has exited on the money bubble in the most brutal of circumstances. Sameer Rattonsey was the villain in this hand and raised to 6500 preflop from UTG. Randeria three-bet to 20,000 from the button holding .

Rattonsey calls and they go to a flop of . With action passed to him, Randeria sends another 32,000 into the middle. Rattonsey tanks and then asks how much Randeria has behind. The response is “about 48,000” and Rattonsey thinks some more. He eventually asks the dealer to count Randeria’s stack exactly but Randeria is against it. Even though he doesn’t have to oblige his opponent, Randeria counts it out himself to exactly 47,500. As Rattonsey again goes into the tank, the clock is called and in the last few seconds he shoves all in to put his opponent at risk.

Randeria is frustrated and asks if Rattonsey flopped trips. The only reply he gets is a smile. Clearly in pain, Randeria makes a crying call but his kings are way in front of Rattonsey’s . The turn lands a but the river brings Randeria’s hands to his head in shock and he’s busted out of the tournament with nothing to show for it but a bad beat story.

8.40pm Albenetti Elimination Brings up Bubble Time

As the action is folded around to Hiyashi Ogi, he makes a raise of 6500 from the button and gets a call from the small blind. The action is now on the short-stacked Francesco Albenetti who pauses for a moment before throwing all his chips in the pot. He is all-in with 13500 chips and both his opponents called the additional 7000 chips.

The flop is and Ogi makes a huge bet of 20,000 forcing the fold from the small blind. Ogi tables for top pair. Albenetti shows and is hanging on for dear life. The turn of is no help to Albenetti and on the river he is out of the tournament in 20th place.

Play is now hand for hand as we need just one more player to bust before the rest are in the money.

8.30pm Lucky Break for Francesco

Francesco Albenetti open shoves in early position for another 7000 chips and gets a call from the hijack. As both players turned over their cards, Albenetti sees that his are in terrible shape against his opponent’s . As the dealer opens the flop , Albenetti improves to an open-ended straight draw. The turn is but the river helps Albenetti double up to more than 19,000 chips, keeping him alive in the tournament.

8.25pm Level 16: Blinds 1500/3000 Antes 500

8.15pm Randeria Cripples Albenetti

In a big hand that ran into break time, Astad Randeria has managed to almost double up and cut Francesco Albenetti’s stack down to just 12,000. Randeria opened the pot for 5200 from UTG and Albenetti called with . On the flop of Randeria c-bet 8200 and a call from Albenetti with his big ace brought the turn .

Randeria slowed down with a check and Albenetti took the moment to bet 8300. Randeria looked to be in pain but made the call anyway, which made his move on the river seem perplexing. He bombed it for 25,000, leaving him with just 8000 of his stack behind.

Now it was Albenetti’s turn to feel the pain over a call. He eventually looked up his opponent but we learned Randeria’s reaction to his turn bet was just for show. Flipping over , Randeria had turned Broadway and now has a much bigger stack to play with. Albenetti is disgusted with himself for the river call and must now sweat over a possible bubble elimination.

8.10pm Break Time of 15 minutes. 20 players remaining in the field.

7.55pm Adiani’s Ducks Lose Race

With one limper and in position, Anil Adiani moved all in with his last 25,000 in chips. The ever entertaining Ravi Goel immediately re-shoved all in on the big blind. The limper folds and it’s a race between Adiani’s and Goel’s . Goel takes the lead by flopping top pair on . The turn and river of and are no help to Adiani and Goel adds a nice 25k to his stack.

Neil Kapoor

7.45pm Heartbreak for Kapoor

Niel Kapoor just copped a harsh bad beat to exit just outside of the money in 21st place. It happened when he got all his stack in against Sameer Rattonsey. It was 18,200 for Rattonsey to call preflop and he took his time before doing so. But when Kapoor flipped over Rattonsey was not happy with himself.

With , Rattonsey paired up on the flop of . The turn made no difference but it was the river that gave Rattonsey the winning hand with trip kings to send Kapoor home. Rattonsey walked around the table to shake Kapoor’s hand and there are now just two eliminations needed for the field to make the money.

7.35pm Escape for Albenetti

Back from the break and Francesco Albenetti was lucky to survive this hand with Japan’s Hisashi Ogi. We caught it with all of Albenetti’s chips in the middle preflop and Ogi sweating a call. Ogi says he knows he’s probably in front but that it’s too close to the bubble to risk it. He open folds Pocket Tens and Albenetti can’t believe how close he came to elimination when he shows Pocket Nines. “Mama Mia!” he says in his Italian accent and exhales a huge sigh of relief.

7.25pm Level 15: Blinds 1200/2400 Ante 400

7.15pm Break Time of 10 minutes. 22 players remaining in the field.

7:10pm Kapoor Doubles

From UTG, Francesco Albenetti makes a raise of 4400 and, as the action is folded around to the big blind, Neil Kapoor wastes no time in moving his last 16,400 chips into the pot. Albenetti makes the call with  and Kapoor turns over .

The flop of  arrives to pair up Albenetti and give Kapoor an open-ended straight draw. The turn of  changes nothing but Kapoor spikes a  on the river to make the winning hand. He doubles up to more than 36K chips, keeping his hopes alive for the tournament.

Martin Nilsson

7.05pm Nilsson is New Chip Leader

Martin Nilsson is now the man to catch in this tournament after busting out Rohit Sekhsaria. Again, Sekhsaria woke up with Pocket Kings (after ousting Vimal in a previous hand with them) but had the misfortune of crashing them into Nilsson’s Pocket Aces.

After eliminating Sekhsaria, Nilsson is our first man to pass the 200k mark and has around 210,000. Incidentally, the three big stacks of Nilsson, Aditya Agarwal and Rahul Byraju are now all seated next to each other on Table 5.

6.50pm Former Chip Leader Vimal Falls

He may have started the day with the overwhelming chip lead but nothing seems to have gone right for Varun Vimal today. He told us earlier that he lost some chunks from his stack trying to bluff players off hands and we saw him further whittled down in pots with fellow big stacks Martin Nilsson and Sameer Rattonsey that didn’t go to showdown.

After all the hits over the course of the day, Vimal was left with just 24,000 in his stack and finally shoved over a 6000 UTG raise from Rohit Sekhsaria. But with the call made, Vimal’s was severely dominated by Sekhsaria’s . With no divine intervention on the board, the once-mighty Vimal has officially busted from the tournament outside of the money.

6.40pm Agarwal Flops Straight into Lead

It wasn’t possible for Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal call any faster when his opponent moved all in on a flop of . There reason being is that Agarwal had just flopped the nuts with for the straight and was in fantastic shape against his opponent’s . With the turn landing a , Agarwal had his opponent drawing dead and is now our chip leader, up to more than 185,000 in chips and looking very dangerous.

6.30pm Table 1 Gets Action and More Goel Antics

We came over to Table 1 to see Ravi Goel all in preflop and Astad Randeria sweating a possible call in the big blind.

“Please god, call me,” says Goel in stand up mode. “Call me bro, c’mon!” It’s the old look strong but likely weak routine but Randeria decides to let his hand go anyway.

“I’ll show you one so you don’t feel bad,” says Goel and cheekily flashes the . His needle has the table laughing and he obliges further by showing his other card of the .

In the next hand, Randeria shoves for 26,800 over the top of Rahul Byraju’s 4000 preflop raise. Everyone thinks it’s possibly a tilt move but when Byraju makes the call with we see that it may just be the cards. Randeria’s are slightly in front and stay that way on a board of to double up.

One hand later and Goel raises to 4000 with and then calls YJ Kim’s short stack shove. The board runs and we’ve lost another player.
