Overview News (9 June)

08/06/2012

Hello, dear friends! Taking into consideration the fact that not many of you would prefer to spend those warm sunny days on reading long poker news, we’ve decided to significantly shorten them and provide you only with the most valuable information. We hope you like and see the true values of our new format. If not, please leave all your thoughts in comments. Your opinion is priceless to us!

Brian Hastings

1. Twenty-three-year-old Brian Hastings managed to beat a field of 152 players to win a $10,000 Heads-Up Championship. For his victory, Hastings earned $371,498, but it was not about the money. I’ve had much bigger scores than this online ($4.2 million in the single biggest session against “Isildur1”), but there is only one gold bracelet and this means more than the money to me” – said Brian in his interview.

4. On Thursday, the World Series of Poker announced 12 more entrants for the highly anticipated Big One for One Drop, a $1 million buy-in tournament taking place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from July 1 through 3. Among the newcomers are: Jason Mercier, Eugene Katchlov, David "Viffer" Peat, Vivek Rakjumar, Andrew Robl, Nick Schulman, Ben Lamb, Jean-Robert Bellande, Sam Trickett and Noah Schwartz, as well as Winmark Corporation CEO John Morgan. According to WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky, an updated One Drop list will "hopefully" be released later this week. Sources have told that 46 spots have been filled, meaning there are only two remaining before the event is capped.
