Nice Start of the Year for Poker Rooms
For the first week of 2012 only, poker traffic rose up to 10%, but this burst of activity was predictable and conventional, as much as fireworks at the New Year Eve. For many people the first days of the New Year are a kind of psychological factor, which gives them confidence and strength to turn over a new leaf. And it is not just about the game. But let’s get back to poker.

In exact numbers, online poker traffic growth amounted to 9.8 percent, and the solid weight gain was showed by all Top 10 online poker rooms, except Pokerstars.fr, which is still experiencing the strike of top regulars who are unhappy by the site’s new policy.
However, the activity of the latter gradually is decreasing; the French version of "PokerStars" has lost about 10% in a week time, which did not allow it to retain its leading position in the sector. Now the most popular online poker site in France is Winamax.fr, at least until the end of the strike. In this case, PokerStars.com itself showed growth in only 5 percent, which is also associated with activities of discontented players.
The second significant change in traffic - is returning of PartyPoker to the second place with 29% growth over the week. iPoker Network failed to beat back - despite a 12% increase in the number of its customers.
Further, traditionally settled 888poker, Ongame Network and PokerStars.it; the Italian site has grown over the past two weeks more than 30 percent.
There is no need to analyze changes in the minor poker rooms, better look at the growth numbers in comparison to last year. And it is not in favor of poker, because traffic is still yielding to itself year ago to 31%. And the return to usual level may be only with the legalization of online poker in the U.S. - the process which is constantly being delayed.
