"Chip" Wins Casino Employees Championship
By a good old tradition this year World Series of Poker were opened by the Casino Employees Championship – a special competition limited exclusively to employees of the gaming industry. 732 players took part in the opening event, generating total prize pool of $329,400, and today we can tell you the name of the first WSOP 2012 champion.
After two consecutive days and nights a full-time blackjack dealer from Visalia, CA, Chiab “Chip” Saechao was crowned a new champion, collecting $70,859 in prize money and his first WSOP gold bracelet. His heads-up opponent Patricia Baker was very close to becoming the first female since Vanessa Selbst to win a gold bracelet in an event other than the Ladies World Championship, but in the final hand her
were beaten by Saechao’s
, as the latter occurred to be stronger on the

board, leaving Patricia with the second place and a nice consolation prize amounting to $43,754.
WSOP executive director Ty Stewart, the most famous name left in the field, was out in 19th place ($2,223), and now has enough time to return to his direct duties.
