An Unexpected Outcome of Superstar Showdown
Yesterday we told you about the confrontation between Isaac Haxton and Victor Blom in the epic Superstar Showdown. As you recall, a battle of titans was interrupted on Sunday due to Internet connection problems in Malta, but Isaac, who plays under the nickname "philivey2694", promised to resume the fight in the near future, and kept his word. Last night, these two clashed again in a valiant fight, which ended rather unexpectedly.

Picking up the Tuesday action with Blom ahead 100,000, things didn’t look good for Haxton, as Blom stretched his lead to 130,000 by the 1,000-hand mark. But then everything turned upside down. During a few hundred hands Isaac began picking large bluffs of the Swede and significantly reducing his backlog. We will bring you one illustrative hand:
Blom called Isaac’s preflop min-raise and then raised Haxton’s continuation bet of $ 400 up to $ 1,600 on the Qs-8d-Ah flop. Isaac just called. At the harmless turn with 3c Blom added $3,250 to the pot, and Haxton called one more time. The river was another blank - 6s and the Swede made one of his trademark moves - a huge overbet – adding $ 27.550 to the $ 10,500 pot. Without thinking long, Isaac called, showing a set of eights. That was more than enough to beat Blom’s J-10 offsuit. After this hand the Swede was still ahead, but only $ 8,000. And already at the mark of 1,800 hands Haxton took the lead at $ 40,000.
We cannot predict the final outcome, if not a cooler for Haxton that give Isildur a 40,000 pot and a slim lead back. On the third table however, Isildur dumped about $8,500 back to Haxton when he folded to a flop bet and that gave him the final edge of $5,093. The loss is only Isildur's second overall in the SuperStar Showdown series, both coming to Haxton. Let's wait how things end up for his next opponent - Alex "Kanu7" Millar.
